Support for the audiovisual industry in content creation
This cluster is designed to provide industry with support for:
- encouraging cross-border circulation of European audiovisual works
- adaptation of content to new audiences and platforms
- introducing more reliable business models that will help control production costs and cope with growing competition.
Focus on cross-border cooperation
The MEDIA sub-programme of the Creative Europe program is focused on activities with a pronounced European added value because it:
- encourages cross-border cooperation between producers and content creators
- supports innovation in terms of content, business models and technology.
The "Business" cluster within the MEDIA sub-programme under the Creative Europe program promotes business innovation, adaptability and talent throughout the European audiovisual value chain.
Such development of the audiovisual environment is necessary in order to follow the growth of global actors in the sector and the digital transformation.
Support for competitiveness, talent and cooperation within the audiovisual industry
Special groups driving the internationalization of the sector will receive targeted support to strengthen cross-border cooperation and encourage learning and knowledge sharing to enable the industry to expand beyond the borders of the home country.
Support within the "Business" cluster is intended for:
- nurturing audiovisual talents by supporting activities that are strongly focused on mentoring and skills in the field of digital and green transformation
- encouraging exchanges between companies that cover all parts of the value chain and whose goal is global reach
- promoting the transnational distribution of content across borders and platforms.
Right to financing
Training organizations, distributors and sales representatives, technical companies, video-on-demand services, aggregators, exhibitors, film markets, etc. can apply for funding under the Business cluster.
The crisis caused by the disease COVID-19 has greatly affected the habits of watching audiovisual content of the European audience. Last year's gradual transition from cinemas to platforms in that sector accelerated rapidly due to the closing of movie theaters.
Support audience growth across multiple platforms
The aim of this MEDIA sub-programme cluster is to connect European audiovisual works with their audiences and to support the development of audiences everywhere in Europe and beyond. The sub-programme aims to achieve this by: stimulating audience growth and revitalization so that the number of viewers and listeners increases on all platforms, connecting with younger audiences using various educational and promotional tools, ensuring access to content through subtitling support.
The MEDIA subprogramme will support the industry in making the most of the opportunities offered by the digital transition. Innovative ways of connecting with audiences will be supported to ensure that European audiovisual works reach the widest possible audience.

Cinema operators, festivals, video-on-demand service operators and networks, film distributors, sales representatives, cultural heritage institutions, etc. can apply for funding opportunities under this cluster.
