Kratak opis organizacije: BOSNIAN NATIONAL THEATER ZENICA was founded in the beginning of 1950. The repertoire of the Theater has been carefully compiled with the aim of being contemporary and engaging. The works of the world’s most important playwrights and numerous Bosnian and South Slavic authors were staged. During its history, BNP Zenica has built a recognizable style and occupied an important place in the family of theaters in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Presenting top theatrical achievements, BNP Zenica participated and was a laureate in numerous theater festivals, screenings and meetings in the areas of ex-Yugoslavia – the Theater visited Montenegro, the Czech Republic, Croatia, Italy, Kazakhstan, Macedonia, Germany, Poland, Slovenia, Serbia and Vojvodina. For fruitful work and artistic achievements, the Theater received numerous awards and social recognitions.
In addition to theater, BNP Zenica is the organizer and host of various cultural and entertainment programs and events, important for the entire cultural life in the city of Zenica, in the Zenica-Doboj canton and beyond.
As part of its production capabilities, the Bosnian National Theater Zenica premieres 9-11 plays intended for audiences of different ages during one theater season. Two to three plays are intended for children and youth, the rest for an “adult” audience. Driven by the ambition to keep up with the times, to contribute to solving the dilemmas of modern man, BNP Zenica is clearly committed in its creative process to nurturing and affirming the literary and dramatic heritage of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Also, special attention in the repertory policy is given to dramatizations of important domestic and foreign prose works, and to the stimulation and affirmation of young playwrights.
During the 60 years of its existence, BNP Zenica has grown into the most important art institution in the central part of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Through its artistic activities, BNP Zenica has become the center and meeting place not only of theater, but of all kinds of artistic and cultural life.
